It's going to snow.... BIGTIME!!!

I am more than excited today, they are calling for 10 inches of snow!!! Raleigh, NC has not seen that much snow for like ten years!!!
So I am about to take miss Madi to the grocery store so we can stock up on the basics and some fun things to keep us warm.
I know that Madison is going to go crazy when she wakes up on Saturday( its going to start snowing late Friday)  and sees the ground and everything else covered in a thick blanket of snow!!!
Be prepared for snow picture overload!
Well got to go gals and guys, I'll write to you later, lots to do today!!

Generic or Brand Name???

So yesterday while I was at the grocery store looking the shelves over for the cheapest of whatever item was on my list (I'm big on lists) I got to thinking  about why generic brand items are so much cheaper than brand name.
I am very budget conscious,  and not just because I have to be, but because I want to be, and quite frankly its dumb not to be, especially in this economy,
Sidetracked sorry.... God now I'm lost...where was I ...... oh Yeah,
I am big on buying generic I find that for MOST items they are just as good if not better!

Here is one of my favorites as an example, I LOVE Wheat Thins, but one day while I was trying to get the heck out of the grocery store and fast, because my daughter was on the verge of a major meltdown on the snack isle, I just happened to see out of the corner of my eye a box of Thin Wheats, hmmm... I wondered could these be just as scrumptious as the Wheat Thins that cost almost douple? When I got  home and tore into those bad boys my mind was made up for sure, they tasted the same as the expensive ones!
There you have if folks a story about Wheat Thins and Thin Wheats, bet you were not expecting that!

Here are a few things that I usually don't buy generic and why:

1. Paper towels- I need the most absorbent ones they make and generic are NOT absorbent

2. Toilet Paper- see above, Need I say anymore???

3. Tuna- Eric and I love tuna, talk about cheap and cheerful, but generic tuna is as Eric says "goey" EXCEPT for Harris Teeter

4. Dishsoap- I like the kind that softens your hands, haha!

5. Tea bags- We use Luzianne its the best, we make good ole' southern sweet tea at least twice a week, I'm drinking a glass now, YUM!

So my question to YOU, yes you sitting at your computer reading this wonderful post (ha)  is, do you  find a difference  between brand name and generic products.
Leave a comment, pretty please with coffee ice cream on top!

Lots Later,
Megan

It's been a while huh.......

I am back! I have been busy with.......well....LIFE!
I have so much catching up to do with this blog
For one I need to post my last Christmas post! I have it typed up but for whatever reason my computer wouldn't let me insert any pictures when I was going to orginally post it a week ago! Ha! Talk about procrastination!

Lots to post about other than Christmas in January!
Here is a picture of what my life has been about the past 3 days!

My sweet little Madi bean is so sick! This is her first cold and just the fact that she doesn't know whats going on makes it worse. Hopefully tonight we can get some rest, I am definitely not use to her staying up all night.

Even though I hate that she feels so bad and that I would kill for eight hours of uninterupted sleep right now, It's just part of being a mother, and along with the not so great moments come hugs, kisses, and cuddles from my beautiful, smart, and sweet baby girl that I love so much!

Lots more to come in the next few days!

Pray for Haiti!

Wish I was there.....

Let me start by saying I absolutly love the Black Eyed Peas!
I think that their music fits every occasion, but thats just me, I listen to it in the car, while I fold laundry, it is great to work out too, and miss priss loves to dance to it!
But anyways here is the coolest video of them performing on the Oprah show , the cool thing is the entire audience did a choreographed dance to suprise Oprah, and boy did it suprise her!!!!  I love the girl that is dancing by herself at the beginning, when I saw it the first time I was like look at this crazy chick dancing by herself! Enjoy I sure did!!!!

Christmas Part 2 Finally!!!

On Christmas Eve we went to my mom and her "man's" house! Mom made the best prime rib EVER we all loved it (except my brother decided that it would taste better with barbque sauce, he thinks that everything should be drowned in BBQ sauce!) and my "nana" (my grandma) made a great potato casserole with cream cheese, and sourcream, and melted cheese on top YUM!! anyways here are a few pictures!

The Best Mexican Dip Ever!

WARNING: Do not make this if you are trying to lose weight because you WILL eat way too much of it!!!

I made this at 9:30 on New Years Eve and Eric and I ate 3/4ths of it by midnight, keep in mind it should feed 4 or 5 people! Not only is this delicious it is super simple and pretty darn cheap to make! I forgot to take a picture of it, Sorry!!

Here is the recipe:
1lb of ground beef (or a mix of ground beef and sausage)
1 can rotel tomatoes I used the hot kind but use whatever you can handle ( you can also use salsa)
1 8oz container sour cream
1 can refried beans
1 packet of taco seasoning
As much cheese as your heart desires, I used a entire bag of shredded extra sharp chedder!

All you need to do is preheat your oven to 350, brown your meat , drain the fat out I always leave about a tablespoon, add the taco seasoning to the browned meat but DO NOT add the water that the seasoning packet says to add, mix together sourcream, refried beans, rotel, and ground beef. Sprinkle cheese on top and put in oven for about 15 or 20 min. I always turn the oven to broil for the last minute so it gets nice and brown and bubbly!! Serve with some tortilla chips and happily gain 2 lbs. in 2 hours!

I had to add this picture!!!
